MISSION 
We commit to facilitating communication between Waller/Lincoln Park High School and its alumni. By uniting the past with the present and recognizing the bond that all former students share, we wish to foster past memories and friendships, while creating new ones. Through various publications and mailings, our members are kept informed and invited to participate in various activities and events. As a result of on-going and special fundraising efforts, we will reward exemplary graduating seniors for noteworthy academic efforts as they pursue knowledge that will allow them to become contributing citizens of our society. In addition, to the extent possible, we endeavor to support certain of the school’s programs.

 

In early 1997, an Alumni Committee originated as a part of the parent organization Friends of LPHS, in order to invite alumni to the April 1999 Waller/Lincoln Park High School Centennial Celebration.This event was hugely successful.

Subsequently, an official Board of Directors was elected in January, 2001; the Waller/LPHS Alumni Association became a recognised 501(c3) non-profit organization thereafter. We are now in contact with over 8500 graduates, of whom 1500 have become dues-paying members at least once (many renew yearly). All contacts receive the twice-yearly Waller/Lincoln Park Alumni News, a newsletter most recently published in December, 2009.

We have twice sponsored an all-alumni directory, in 2003 and 2008. It contains names of nearly 26,000 graduates since the founding of Waller High School in 1899. We are looking for the whereabouts of many "lost" grads!

All alumni, alumni parents, alumni friends and former staff may join the organization by sending a $15.00 yearly membership fee. We also offer a Lifetime Membership ($150), if one prefers, a great bargain! This fee supports publication and mailing costs of the Alumni News, as well as other mailings and activities of the Association.

 

1) we seek to provide monetary awards to deserving, needy seniors, to help with college expenses; thus, fundraising for this purpose is one of our major activities.
2) we also provide assistance to those who organize reunions of their class.

3) we would like to recognise the many contributions of Waller/LPHS alumni to society; thus, we are quite interested in having up-to-date information about Waller/LP grads: their whereabouts, status and life activities.

4) we have sponsored the publication of two hardcover directories of graduates, in 2003 and 2008, in order to facilitate contacts and networking of alumni. In addition, there is an online version of the directory, with the most up-to-date information about our "found" graduates.
